WhatsApp's Latest Beta Update Poised to Revolutionize Video Call Screen-Sharing with Music Sharing Feature

Earlier in the year, WhatsApp delivered an update that sparked excitement among its user base by introducing the ability to share screens on video calls, aligning itself with functionalities previously notable in Google Meet and Zoom. Pushing innovation further, WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Meta, is reportedly developing additional features for its screen-sharing tool. An upcoming update might soon allow users to simultaneously share music while screen-sharing on a video call. This enhancement was reportedly observed in the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.25.10.72, which is currently accessible through the TestFlight program.

The feature, as reported by the WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, aims to bring iPhone users the option to share their audio output during video calls whenever they opt to screen-share. This new capability is anticipated to allow attendees on the call to experience audio from videos and music in unison, further enriching shared moments such as watching content collectively or elevating presentations during virtual meetups.

The sighting of this audio-sharing feature came from the most recent iteration of the WhatsApp beta for iOS, version 23.25.10.72, delivered via the official TestFlight beta program. However, this eagerly awaited component is not yet available for beta users, as it’s still under development.

WABetaInfo showcased a glimpse of what's in store for the share music audio feature, seemingly activated through hidden functionalities presently in progress. Moreover, the announcement from WABetaInfo clarified that the forthcoming audio-sharing tool would be limited to video calls only, with voice-only calls and video calls with the video function not supporting this new feature.

In a move to keep pace with dedicated video conferencing platforms, WhatsApp started accommodating screen sharing for video calls back in August, accessible through the simple tap of a share icon. Alongside this, the application has brought in support for landscape orientation for video calls, providing an optimal screen-sharing experience.
